Numbers Poem by Wandering Scarlet

Numbers

Rating: 5.0

NUMBERS
lets wage war
body count
then maybe kill a few innocent more?
body count
an unwanted child
body count
the chef cooked this too mild
body count
who says i have no rights?
while the horrid turns out all the lights

NUMBERS
one mans vitality
but a number
of meaningless reality
a number for war
a number for the dead that never walked
it makes my poor heart sore
the bodies that breathe no more

NUMBERS
the cure for emotion
allows the earth to spin in motion
one substituted for identity
this changes mentality
a number is but dispensable
but a lost soul is irreversible

Numbers is a brilliant subject for a poem and there are some excellent ideas and quite poetically expressed lines, particularly in the last stanza. I wonder though about the line 'the chef cooked this too mild' (apart from the bad grammar, it seems out of context somehow) . Nonetheless, the poem shows a originality and flair and I encourage you to read and write more. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
