Nudity Poem by Shruti Goswami

Nudity

I stand nude
In front of you
And you wince
Not quite convinced
What to do or not do.

Does my nudity scare the hell out of you?

You try to tame it
With all your might
But your intrepidity sadly
Vapourizes like raindrops
In a dessert
Giving you a fright
Where you thought
Only lust would reign.

Show me some of your tall claims
Instead of lapping up the sight
With your voyeuristic eye
Or visualizing the moans
Of the aftermath of ecstasy
Which you cannot deny.

But you do nothing.
You say nothing.

For you know
I don't desire you
Like you desire me
A lust to kiss the peaks
Of arrogant youthful buds
Or the crevices
Where humanity took birth.

You know
I shall not succumb to temptations
No matter how much
My flesh desires your flesh
Your mind still leaves
Much to be desired
For it still remains
Transparent, uncouth.

You can pretend
To continue loving me
Long after you've had your fill
But you can never carry it
To your grave.
You have to shed your clothes
And bury your wishes
But there'll be no one to save
Or douse
The fire of your desire.

I love and laugh
The bewilderment on your face
Amuses me to no end
While you die a disastrous death
I shall carry my nudity
With pride
Unbroken, unconquered
When I die.
