Now We'd Rather Watch A Movie Poem by Mark Nichols

Now We'd Rather Watch A Movie

Rating: 5.0

I will wait
Patiently
While you do your makeup
'Cause it means so much to me
To see you happy like we used to be
When we were younger and it was easier
To go outside
Now we'd rather watch a movie
Or miniseries if we don't doze off
We used to do so many things together
Disregard the weather
Or the traffic
Now we'd rather watch a movie

8 O'clock
Tucked in bed
Happy ever after
In a peanut butter ice cream coma
Not the way it used to be
When we were younger
And it was difficult to stay inside
Now we'd rather watch a movie
That's the prize you get for growing up
No need to wrap ourselves in lace and leather
Pancake makeup
Mystery and feathers
Now we'd rather watch a movie
Now we'd rather watch a movie

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

The beauty of the process of aging in a romancing couple over a period of time has been captured rather elegantly. Thank you, Mark Nichols.
