Nothing That Matters Poem by Annie Ali

Nothing That Matters

A storm passed by the nearest nerve
A trunkated heart just recorded it on high
A mind struggling to put a veil of reason on it
My collided being standing aghast
To the unbelievable happenings of the last moment
A moment i never imagined could ever come to me
To a self i raised above all anomalies
Of love and its catastrophes
Not the lightening of love as when it struck seems sweet
Not the volcano of envy as its eruption turns everything into ashes
Not the purest of trust unbroken where all reason smashes
It must be an expectation I raised since ages
Nurtured it to grow into a tall dense tree
With roots and branches all around my soul
Under whose shadows I use to troll
This tempest of gushed emotions tweaked its fall
But it was just a tree as thousands among all
Destroyed, demolished, destructed aghast
What I am looking at now is a new bed of soil
Scattered with nibbles of drifted seeds from the lands unknown
Ready to bloom in the spring I cast
