Nothing Is Ever Done Poem by Shalom Freedman

Nothing Is Ever Done

NOTHING IS EVER DONE

Nothing is ever done
The world goes on
I go on with it-
For now.
“The silence of these infinite spaces casts me into dread”
So do the noises I hear everywhere now in my own mind-
Life is difficult
But is it only difficult?
I go on and on and without knowing if I am doing right-
Poetry too seems to be going away from me
How can we continue
When so much is against us,
And more and more and more and more enemies work for our destruction?
