Nothing Else Poem by Cee Bea

Nothing Else

I watched
and looked at the eyes
of expectation.
My heart and soul shed light
as I hoped to see even more

Just keep trying
just keep trying

everything could have come
apart
spilling in a sticky mess.
I just don't want you to struggle

I saw a look that I had
given my father
return.
only I was on the receiving end
this time

But the day will be yours,
and I will remember the days
that we smiled

and nothing else.
