Nothing But A Heart Beat Poem by Joy Davis

Nothing But A Heart Beat

In my heart
a storm is raging
In reality
the silence prevails
Nothing but a single heart beat
to prove I am alive
Only a soft touch
could send me over the edge
I feel your breath
tingling on my neck
I sense your quiet
nervousness
Your eyes are so beautiful
Everything is dead
Only the sound of a heart beat
But whose is it?
So alive and vibrant
Confused and hurt
I wish it were mine
A single heartbeat
to prove I am aline
worthy of love
Nothing but a heart beat
keeps me alive
and Loving
