Notary Poem by Adam Thoms

Notary

It was dark as night
When I finally stepped outside
What you tried to hide
Now was in plain sight
That's alright
It's about time that we shed sunlight.
On an injust system
With a broken piston
Why can't I be the one to decide what's right?
If you let me regain my sight I'll try.

To watch for the burgals and pilfers
Who will smuggle their will first;
quench their unjust thrist.
I know you're parched
So, on our troops march

But that's not the way it has to be
I take one for you take one for the team
Call off the guard
Blame it on art.

But wait,
You've got enough on your plate.
Why would I settle is a mystery
When I could peddal to my destiny
Where I would meddle with history
You could be the notary.
