Not With Tears Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Not With Tears

People are still after my flesh
Want me and finish
My existence as honorable woman
Even though lived peaceful and alone

It was not my doing
Ill fate had struck from the beginning
Husband was running ill health
We were always short of little wealth

I know many people tried to take advantage
Some tried desperately to manage
I resisted their attempts
And stood alert

Even though, I had helpless situation
I stood for holy relation
I wanted to settle again
To live peacefully and regain (old position)

I know it is very much difficult
To stay in and escape insult
As loner, you are always threatened
To part with what you have not imagined

I shall not succumb
And rub my eyes
With tears
I can sand alone and bear
