Why can’t we go into a relationship with eyes wide open
Instead of finding out after you’ve already chosen
You see the real person after a few months of dating
Never knowing the risks you’re contemplating

Can’t see the troubled waters before the waterfall
Tumbling head over heels willing to fall for it all
Giving it all up to chance in what you think you can handle
Only questioning yourself if it’s worth the gamble

True colors that show the real person they are
Instead of that dreamt up shiny bright star
A complicated reality that wakes us from the dream
That shows us that relationships are not what they seem
