Not Because It Had Soft Hands *

When it is minute and helpless and vulnerable
The soft, warm and healing touch intervened
Not because it brought forth the helpless, humble and lame into this world
Not because it had the natural obligation to care and nurture
Not because it is a blanket meant to cover against the cold, hunger and sickness
Not because it had the soft hands
No soft hands can stand the test of endurance

The lullaby song arose in defiance of ordinariness
Lulls the cry and pain and heals from a close and far range
The healing effect omnipresent in hind side
Lullaby song, the presence and absence of the mother the same
Child assured of protection against hunger and sickness
Assured of the warmth of touch happiness and life
