Not Alone? Poem by Eric Bult

Not Alone?

This beautiful blue planet, seemingly
Alone as home to sapient life as we
Yet know ourselves to be, remarkably
As one grain of the sand within the sea,
May but suggest to all who ponder thus
That, hidden in the depths of distance vast,
A plethora of beauteous homes for us
Await our spirits in new bodies cast.
Between that fair horizon and this verse
Must lie the valley known as death that we,
Or our immortal spirits, must traverse
If any of those planets we may see.

But those who have not love may never know
The purpose that the universe will show.
