Not A Deep Vast Sea Poem by Tinnie Moe

Not A Deep Vast Sea

I do not drown in a deep vast sea
where I'd sink 'nto the abyss
floating
For a white whale to rescue me.

I do not drown at the dark vast sea
where my long red hair smothers me
drifting
For a liquid squid to entangle me.

I will not drown at the deep vast see

I will drown 'cause of this little crab

Because I was dragged onshore
through a scourging puddle of drabby sand
when we tried to build a home at land.
