Nostalgic Moment Poem by Talmadge Rogalla

Nostalgic Moment

What happened to the days of old?
When people weren’t quite so cold,
And the good spoke out so bold.
The days when spouses wept,
Because they just wouldn’t accept,
The marriages that have not kept.
What happened to those days gone by?
I say with a mournful cry,
When we did not swap truth for lie.
When one could search,
For a spouse in church,
Who did not leave you in the lurch.
What happened to those days gone by?
When pollution wasn’t so high,
When people did not swap truth for lie,
Are we better off today,
Where people don’t help and go out their way,
Creating a word full of dismay.
Now you need a magic wand,
So one does not leave or abscond,
And to protect the marriage bond.
Remember the days when things were cheap,
Before technologies forward leap.
When things didn’t go off with a beep,
Now people just don’t care,
Everything says “Beware”,
To avoid today’s dreadful snare.
What happened to the days gone by?
We lament with a mournful cry,
When one did not swap truth for lie,
Oh what happened to the days of old?
When people weren’t so cold,
In the days when lies for truth weren’t sold.
What happed to those days of old?
Never to return if truth were told!
