North America Today Poem by Raymond Farrell

North America Today

The post world war two
Economic boom
Experienced in North America
During the 1950s and 1960s
Has never been equalled
In history
But the lack of wisdom
In response to it
Has resulted
In a society
Fuelled by consumption
For the sake of consumption
Today in 2015
The boom is long over
But many people's habits
Have not adapted
To the new reality
And they are busy
Buying on credit
Spending money
They don't have
On things
They don't need
Hoping to impress
People they don't know
Who are too self-centred
To even notice.

When will it end? Great commentary, Ray.

Good question, and when it comes it is not likely going to be pretty!
