No Use Poem by Francis Duggan

No Use

No use in ruing all your golden lost chances
Or for the opportunities you failed to take
For every winner there must be a loser
And reputations often are at stake.

No use in saying 'I could be well to do now'
If I had taken every chance that came my way
But your future is the only thing that matter
Since you cannot change what happened yesterday.

No use in seeking comfort in self pity
And having the look of sadness on your face
Few wish to know you if you feel unhappy
If the 'poor me' mentality you embrace.

You wonder why your friends don't wish to know you
Though it is not of you they wish to know
But the sad and hard luck stories that you tell them
Who wants to hear of your litany of woe? .

No use in telling others your sad stories
For to them yourself you never will endear
They have enough of problems in their own lives
And of your hard luck they don't wish to hear.
