No Us Poem by Joan Marques

No Us

There’s no mind
That doesn’t ever wander
There’s no sky
That doesn’t ever thunder
There’s no hand
That doesn’t want to feel
And no card player
That doesn’t want to deal
No child
That doesn’t want to play
And no night
That doesn’t want a day
There’s no evil
That doesn’t want some right
And no sunshine
That doesn’t want some night
There’s no glove
That doesn’t want a hand
And no actor
That doesn’t want the stand
There’s no wizard
That hasn’t seen it all
And no grown up
That hasn’t once been small
There’s no water
That wants to leave things dry
And no valley
Without the hills so high
There’s no togetherness
When two people are through
There’s no us
Because there is no you
