No Time To Spare For God? Poem by Dr John Celes

The precious time, God gave to us,
We find is not enough at all!
But we have time for everything,
Except to spare for God!

We have much time for sin and vice;
We have the time for things in vain;
We have the time for earthly joys,
Except to spare for God!

We find the time for worldly chores;
We find the time traditions seek;
We find the time for futile things,
Except to spare for God!

We have the time for fun and games;
We have the time for future plans;
We find the time for traveling,
Except to spare for God!

Yet, God gave us enough of time
For earthly wants, and divine needs;
The Lenten time is meant for God;
Give most to soul and God!
