No Matter What I Do Poem by Richard Goolsby

No Matter What I Do

I could reach to the stars,
And take a couple for you,
but that wouldn't be enough,
No matter what I do.

I could promise you happiness,
And all the love this world hold,
And still wouldn't be enough,
Or so I am told.

I'd love to know what it would take,
To be able to hold you close and tight,
Evidently its not what I have,
Seems I've lost this fight.

Tho they say money isn't everything,
We all know that's a lie,
For if it were about happiness,
You'd give us a try.

But now I've given up,
For there is so much I can't compete,
But one day you will realize,
You had a great thing right at your feet.
