No Dime Poem by olaitan mahmud

No Dime

No dime,
We cannot dine with the aristocrats
Feeble bone helter and skelter
Still hoping for goodness and mercy

No dime
We are de-saturated
Loosed our principle as man
Our dream is rumpled

No dime
We look our rulers
As our semi-god
Democracy has been misused, corruption has smite the nation

No dime
Our look is unpleasant
To the people of hallowed chamber
But we voted them into power

No dime
Government of the people
has turned to government of
The common and aristocrats
Oh God!
Why are we pennyless?
Why are we in the lower class?

No dime
Imams and pastors are preaching 'hope'
We are still hoping for goodness and mercy
Nevertheless, our land is greener and we will not jump over.
