No Age Restrictions For Having Fun Poem by William Cavanagh

No Age Restrictions For Having Fun

I met and managed
and kept
a blond Scandinavian woman.
She was so-very attractive
even in her early forty’s.
I loved to be seen
with her.
Once, she had been unlucky
in life…almost murdered!
She was stabbed 12 times
by a 15 year old boy who
robbed the store
she was working at.
We never had much
of a relationship, but
we managed to
share a few drinks,
smoke a few joints and
sleep together for 8 years
on and off.
She loved to dance
at the raves where
all the young people
danced, and
I would go with her, and
let loose after
10 shooters and
a few beers.
I asked her if
maybe we were a
little aged for these places.

She taught me
something very valuable
there and then.
She said, “There’s an age restriction
to get into the rave but,
since when was
there any age restrictions
on having fun”.

Now when I dance
I think of her.
