Nightmares Poem by Felicity Koch

Nightmares

Rating: 4.5

I dream in one color
Black
Clear and crisp darkness
The evil that my mind conjures up consumes me, and haunts me long past the first time that it was thought
I don't know if these thoughts come from the blackest part of my soul or the subconscious thought of death being around the corner
I stop breathing and my heart skips a beat
I jault awake scanning the room for the evil entity that just a few moments ago was trying to kill me
Nightmares are completely normal
To an extent
But every night
Every night the fear of death and the sensation of being watched
Whether it's a demon, zombie, monkey, or cannibals
I fear them all…
Nightmares haunt everyone
But I feel as if I am haunted more than others

Nightmare does not have substance, yet everyone dreads the thought of experiencing it on regular bases. It's a lovely poem, well articulated and nicely penned. Thanks sharing and do keep it up. Please read my poem THE PHOENIX STRANGLER.
