Nightfall Poem by Piper Brown

Nightfall

the night is, my love, is my time to shine
the darkness, my cloak, as to others of my kind
no one there to judge, condemn, to scream
a time to be me, no fault by others to be seen
the choices are mine, never known to those who frown
chanting, shrieking, 'what goes 'round comes 'round'
my freedom, all of myself, is a terrible cost
to stay in the light, to make known that i am lost
the night is my friend, there i am never alone
but step into the light, loneliness is the tone
the fiery drinks of the night cannot compare
a lover's touch, the darkness amplifies their care
the feeling of love, the danger, the thrill
then the emptiness you look to him to fill
the skin that bares under the moonless skies
the desperate search for the love that never dies
the music, the lights, the parties that show
the rebels, the misfits, the lowest of low
the night is my lover, my heart is now lost
my life might yet be paid, the devil's high set cost
the high price for my desired life
this held razor sharp double edged knife
