New Year Resolutions (Fun Poem 152)

As an old year passes through to a new
we make our resolutions to fulfil
giving up this and that
for a couple of days at least
until our willpower gives way
to the temptations all around
and we start down that slippery slope
until the next year comes around
when once again we will try again
hoping next year we succeed.
