New In School Poem by Jenna Dandurand

New In School

Rating: 4.0

There was this girl
at school today-
she could've been
new. She walked
through the halls
with a down-trodden
face and a sullen
expression or
two.
Everybody saw her,
shuffling down the halls,
but not a single
kid talked to her
or told her one
nice thing.
That is,
until the last period.
The other new kid
who had tons of friends
went up to her
when she dropped her books.
He picked them up
just for her.
And then she said
the most exquisite thing-
Thank you for
showing me the
smallest bit of
kindness.
