Never Ending Call Poem by faith toney

Never Ending Call

The moment I picked up the phone
the second I heard your name
I froze with fear
for I knew I couldn’t let you back into my life
without pain flooding back
you spoke the words that I craved to hear
your return froze my passion
I listened with an open heart
trying to believe your speechless lies
I was down in the pit and starting to well
his voice brought me to this fake reality
together as one
my motionless breath captured the days
the one beloved was indifferent
my prudent was gone
but I still couldn’t be that girl
for I wasn’t his girl to act upon such desires
I stand alone looking into hollowed eyes
crying inside so deep
he would never know how he kills me every time I see his face
so dead inside towards his sour words
im over and done with his selfishness
that never ending call
put the pressure of life back into its place
reminding me of forgiveness and grace
the power of love and pray
help me stay strong
to over come all that, that never ending call
did the damage is irreplaceable
my heart still not whole
