First shot was fired aimlessly
It was done mercilessly
No notice and no warning
Two countries were hostile now and facing
“Stand to” order was issued
All leave applications were cancelled
The sky was filled with siren
Everything was done all of sudden
Yes it was mere provocation
The country had witnessed deterioration
The refuges problem was burning one
It was eating up sources and bothered every one
It was do or die approach
The enemy was hell bent on such
We were given warning to get ready
For civilian casualty as well as for army
War is never a sweet proposal
It is never taken casual
Human loss is colossal
It can not find easy dismissal
Yes we came out victorious
It became world over very famous
So many war prisoners
But all were treated as commoners
I recall bitter memory
But we all had worry
For our brethren on front
Who were bearing brunt
