Nevada Looks Like Paradise Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Nevada Looks Like Paradise

Rating: 2.8

Nevada looks like paradise.
An infinite vision of casino lights and pool bars.
The electric daisy shines down to showcase faces,
Only silhouettes of the human design.
Hippy girls with wide eyes, cherry smiles, and halos wrapped around their heads.
Las Vegas, the city of sin,
Where dreams come to die and spirits come to live.
The moon is not the only light to pave the way,
Millions of colours act as stars, incognito.
Bling bling, shades of you, dreams of me,
Children of the east, flying for the west.
Sparkling diamonds line my mind,
and maybe my heart, but not my soul.
Tequila or vodka after the swimming pool,
Glimmering in beads of water, hand me the flask darling.
He asks me what my name is,
Tell me what do you want it to be?
He knows the joke, when he’s buying the day
Gotta be fun and wild, put on a show,
To live on the strip of money and booze and hotel sprees,
Nothing is for free, not even me.
This is the kind of religion I can get down to,
A little slice of heaven in temptations corner of the earth.
And we’ve got the music, the music,
The music to save our flaming souls.
Your song, my song, a united melody of allegiance to the divine.
When I leave this place behind, will you?
Escape from what was the escape of carousals at midnight.
In the sky, and I’m wishing on slot machines,
Some pretty money to let us live on the town.
Like bonnie and clyde, on the run, fancy guns, sexy fun.
Nevada looks like paradise,
For the girl who belongs to no one.
