Nests Poem by Cicely Fox Smith

Nests

Nests are wonderful things . . .
The rook's high house that swings
Daring the winds of March,
The loose-built home the dove
The neat mud ball that clings
Close to the sheltering eaves
The friendly martins love:
Nests that birds great and small
Fashion of grass and leaves,
Lichen and moss and wool . . .
Nests are most wonderful.
