Neighborly Poem by tony haynes

Neighborly

Unlike my
Neighbor I
Dwell in a house all alone
Erected by
Reason and not by wood & stone
So unlike my neighbor
The weather can never dictate
A seasonal balance to ration my fate
Now & then I
Do wonder whether or not
I and my
Neighbor can cast our lot – and create
Goodwill at our adjoining gate…

…And be neighborly, before one of us moves
And by then it is too late
