Nature's Song Poem by Michelle Rainey

Nature's Song

She sits atop old, creaking Bench
Head perched on fragile, white Hand
Long black Hair wraps around Neck and falls to Waist
Takes in a deep Breath of fresh Air
Closes Eyes and smiles
Breeze murmurs in Ear
Tells her to listen to Surroundings
Forget about Past, about Future, but to linger in Moment
As she releases Breath she releases Pain, Struggles, Worries, Fears
Exhales Past and Future, but lets Breath linger in Moment
And finally, she can hear it
Breeze starts to hum soft Tune
Breeze whispers to Grass
Sway to my melody, Grass begins to sway
Rain starts to drum on Bench
Rain cries to Trees
Dance to my beat, Trees begin to dance
Leaves on Trees start to rustle
Leaves hiss to Creatures of Forest
Sing to Music, tap to Beat, Creatures of Forest begin to sing and tap
Suddenly Breeze becomes louder
Wind begins to whistle
Rain begins to wail
Leaves on Trees begin to crackle
Creatures of Forest begin to chant and stomp
All Forest joins in, Music grows
Gets louder and louder
And then
The girl suddenly opens her eyes
As the song of nature suddenly dies
