Napoleon Was Braver Poem by Francis Duggan

Napoleon Was Braver

All 21st century leaders of powerful Nations are cowards nothing more
They send young people to risk their lives for them on a far foreign shore
When I hear people praise them I have to laugh loud
Napoleon was braver Napoleon was proud.

Napoleon he always led his men in war
His soldiers never went without him to wage war afar
Napoleon always led them he never knew fear
Of the so called bravery of our modern leaders I have no wish to hear.

He may have met with defeat at Waterloo
But he went down with honour for to give him his due
Napoleon surrendered and he died in exile
From his former Empire in Europe many a sea mile.

Napoleon as we know was not free of taint
But any war leader was never a saint
A wee man physically but none braver than he
and he always led his men to war to prove his bravery.

Of our so called 21st century war leaders I do not wish to hear
They send young people to fight for them but for their own lives they fear
But Napoleon was different though physically small
Great courage and chivalry of him we recall.
