Nakupenda

Njia zako niliacha, amri zako nika kiuka
nahisi nanuka, harufu ninapoka, nahisi njaa
kweli nafaa? nahisi nafa, dhambi zinanifuata
kazima yangu taa, sijui nilipo panavyo fanana
sijui hata saa, msaada mbali kama paa
nani atanitoa, nani ataniokoa, kutoka kwa balaa?

Naamua, macho nainua, uchovu unaniua
jana nilikua ua, leo dhambi zaniua
nainua, lakini siwezi zinaniua, dhambi zanichanua
nihurumie, naomba nisamehe

Amri zako nilikiuka, nikaaibika, kisha nikakimbia,
lakini upana wa njia umenifika
miiba nategukia jiwe naangukia, naumia nalia
hakuna anayenisikia, hakuna wakunisaidia
sasa nakulilia, nakukimbilia
mkono unanipatia, wanikumbusha ulichonifanyia
mtini ulinifia, sababu wanifikiria, mkono ukanishikilia
begani nikakulalia, machozi ukanipanguzia, maisha mpya ukanipatia

Poem of the Day

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
