Naive Poem by krissi b'williams

Naive

Rating: 5.0

I was so naive...to believe
every lie you spread...in every word you said......all untrue
i really, truly, honestly, believed in you....i gave you, my faith
all the vows and the oaths, were fake
i truly believed we were meant to be soulmates
it was our destiny, and fate
now, this reality reminds me
how i made such a terrible mistake
this relationship, i will use as a metaphor
the game of chess..............every move that we made
a piece slid across the board...
til i had no pieces, no more
except for the king, a metaphor that represents loves ring
you were very cunning, you beat me at my best
played me so well, CHECKMATE, ! my king (heart) fell
i used to laugh at women, who were weak
that always looked down, at the ground
catering only to their men.........when
their men would go and cheat, and were never discreet
and their women would justify it by saying, he still comes home to me
women that were filled with shame....mild and meek
spoke only when, the men gave them, permission to speak
i used to inwardly cower, at their wretched souls
look, and, behold, look at me now-that was then, and now its come full circle again.........by all your lies, that i will never comprehend
and the love you so willingly gave, was only pretend
so answer me this..why? ? ? why? ? ? even bother
becoming a black hearted robber
the lies you spoke with such a straight face
those words on which i choke upon, for i am disgraced

diffently by you, but more so by me.....for being so damn NAIVE
