Mystified Poem by Sandra Feldman

Mystified

Rating: 4.8

You linger on,
Like a mystery upon,
A shattered dream,
Like an autumn leaf.
That will not die,
Like my very shadow,
That cannot cry,
And even though I try,
I can't forget you,
Why? Why? Why?

Yes, it's mystifying. Your poem includes just enough images to build up to the triple cry of Why? Perhaps those lingerings feelings of affection and the persistence of good memories are a sign of our human nature. And it's a positive thing about us humans that once we place value in another person that person stays valuable to us. But your poem captures the pain and wisely does not even try to explain it away.

The unspecified 'you' is also as mystified as your poem itself, and that perhaps beautifies it all the more. Nice poem. Touches. Deeply. 10/10.

Something's and people can just never be forgotten. And often would we ever want to forget a wonderful special person? Wonderful piece.
