My Wish Poem by Farid Salleh

My Wish

Gaze at the ring when you feel desolate,
A heart of blithe it will create.
Think of the ring as it was me,
Observing you study to get a first class degree.
Enjoy your life at the States, don't bother about me,
I'll take care of myself and your family.
Your friends in Malaysia wish you the best of luck,
It's just moral support, so you won't get stuck.
I engrossedly sing Frank Sinatra's My Way,
That I almost forgot today's your birthday.
So best wishes to the birthday girl,
As she is the one who rocks my world.
Finally reaching the age of nineteen,
Will you take my hand and be my queen?
It's not a joke as I love you so much,
I really hunger your sweet gentle touch.
It took me six years to see you in the real,
So another four is no big deal.
I'll anxiously wait for that day to come,
Where I'll kneel down before you, but somehow act so numb.
As I'm about to make the biggest decision in my life,
That is to take you as my everlasting wife.
But until this dream comes true,
I'll just sit back waiting and be loyal to you...
