My Vampire Brother. Poem by Tony Mushrow

My Vampire Brother.

Rating: 4.5

My Vampire brother.

I can’t believe you sleep all day,
I think it’s really rude.
You’re also strange at dinner,
and your not eating your food.
You never talk to mum and dad,
Don’t tell me that it’s fine,
and I don’t believe that red stuff
in your glass,
is just red wine.

I saw you at the donor bank,
When I was giving blood,
I still recognised you, bro,
in your sunglasses and hood.
I thought that you had seen me,
So I waved and gave a shout,
the staff were really mad,
why would you try and take some out.

We can’t find the cat,
the dog or my hamster Fred.
Yet I was in your room,
I found a collar in your bed.
The next doors neighbours’ daughter,
she’s been missing for while.
yet I found her clothes in your room,
in a corner,
in a pile.

She told me once you asked to kiss
her on the check, yea, just a peck,
She said you always pestered her
and was a pain in the bleeding neck.

And when the priest called to the house,
I thought that it was fun,
I’ve never seen you move so fast,
you broke into a run.

And when he went to bless the room,
Sprinkling holy water on the floor,
we just heard a slam,
it was you right out the door.

I came to your room the other day,
outside the door I sat.
Then when it got to midnight,
I went in, and saw a bat.
So I opened up the window,
and out of it flew.
The strangest thing I thought,
when it flapped by,
that it was you.

And you’ve taken all the mirrors out your room,
which is pretty odd.
Then again I don’t blame you,
cos your such an ugly sod.
And I can’t believe your clothes choice man,
you’re only wearing black,
you’re like him from the matrix,
you know that one in the Mac.

Your friends are pretty weird too,
they only call at night.
Can you please warn, me their calling
cos they gave me such a fright.

Your bloodshot eyes stare back at me,
I think you are a fake.
Me mum was only planning dinner,
I only asked, “you wanting steak

End.

I've never seen the film, but the poem is very entertaining. The vision of you giving blood, and he trying to take some out, made me chuckle.
