My Unwanted Friends Poem by Barbara Vanier

My Unwanted Friends

Rating: 5.0

I sit inside my cold dark house
While sunshine bathes the outside world
My two best friends have come to visit
I introduce to you loneliness and dispear

Someone please tear this roof off for me
Then maybe the sun would shine upon me
Instead I wait for tears I try so hard to hide
To flood the very basement of my soul

No matter what I do or say in life
Emptiness lives with me every day
How I wish I could find another lover
Than the one in me I am forced to share

Love, love, love I hate you
I love to hate you so I can lie
Try, try, try to replace you
Why can’t I live under grey less skies
Please, Please believe me when I tell you how dead I feel
My heart’s about to split open and then you’ll see how my blood is real
