My Story Poem by Tierra Bradley

My Story

If you've been there once
You've been there twice
And honey let me tell you
It sure isn't nice
To have your heart broken
And thrown in the trash
You go through life
Thinking of the past
Oh you don't believe me
Let's go to my past
And I'll tell you a story
That'll always last
It started out
I was real young
I fell in love
With a boy once
He was light-skinned
With light brown eyes
That darkened every time
He tried to lie
He made me feel
Like love exist
He talked to me
With no clenched fist
But all great things
Had to come to an end
So tragic it was
We couldn't be friends
So I blamed myself
And I blamed me well
I tried to move on
But always failed
One day I met
A friend oh my
He made me feel
Like I didn't have to cry
He numbed my soul
From the inside out
But he didn't know
What love was about
But I was devastated
And I didn't care
But little did I know
I was about to share
He tried to slip and slide
Around the neighborhood
I always knew
He was no good
So I let him go
And never loved again
And that's where my story
Comes to an end
So run, laugh
Enjoy life while you can
But keep your heart
Close at hand
