My Star Poem by Stuart Doggett

My Star

For Holly St. John, and Holly St. John:

I float I spin,
The innocent star,
Oblivious to all
Ignoring the change
Till impact is immanent.

I crack I split,
The broken star,
Shattered to fragments,
All thoughts and feelings
Free to soar infinity.

I fly I fall,
The graceless star,
Falling from heaven
Burning holes in the sky
And cracking the earth.

I lie I wait,
The patient star,
Trapped beneath the jumble
Remembering the freedom
And flying on re-grown wings.
