My Sixteen Month Sabbatical Poem by Jonathan Goldman a.k.a JGthepoet

My Sixteen Month Sabbatical

My sixteen month sabbatical,
“From what? ” ~ I hear you say.
From writing poetry ~ I tell you,
As another, I write today.

‘twas on 24th February 2009,
I wrote my 500th poem,
And on 24th June 2010,
Ever onwards I am going.

Why can’t I put my pen down
And lead a poem-free Life?
Why must the words flow once again
When rhyme and scan I write?

I struggle with my thoughts now,
No nonsense must I pen,
What is the theme of this one
I ask myself again?

My poems can be abstract,
They can be of my Faith,
Of views I’ve seen and Memories,
And of the time that I’ll not waste.

Good for one to take time to contemplate things.
