My Silence Poem by Ben Gieske

My Silence

MY SILENCE

speaks louder than my words
unlike deep canyon waters

___ more like just a rocky bottom
knowing only thirst

my thoughts stagger
behind the conversation drifts
phantoms in the dark
too skittish in the light

I feel versed in many things.
This one art eludes me still
like a turtle not sticking out its head
while pondering what next to do.

Be it deep as the deepest sea
or shallow as a left-behind rain pool,
how dare you fathom
what I truly ponder
for I do not know myself
the octopi of may inner brain.
