My Secret Drug! Poem by Pranayee Rachamalla

My Secret Drug!

When darkness turns my favourite,
So that I can speak out my secrets
With my companion, myself
And search for smile, here and there,
Along with my ally loneliness,
Books were my silent listeners,
While my pillows wipe every drop of tear,
clinging at the end of my eyelashes
From my kajal spread big black eyes!
They are my angels taking me to a distant amusement world!
Where I forget everything and everybody!
They are my respectable psychiatrists,
When I drown in depression!
They are part of my family, part of my body,
Whole of my life, replacing everybody.
During the ups and during the downs,
During my cries and during my success, they were side by me.
They never got tired of my attitude
And never spoke looking at me externally,
Never commanded me or demanded me!
They are my mysterious sleeping pills and regular pain killers!
I'm not addicted to books,
We are in a mutual relationship!
