My Rock Poem by Leaking Pen

My Rock

Rating: 5.0

It is not who I am
But what I am that defines me
Like deep roots of the mighty oak tree
Cementing its footings in stable grounds
Stubborn with life embracing growth
Its branches reaching endless skies
Where eagles soar majestically
Gliding winds beneath their wings
Mastering evolving domains
In steady flights of faith
And I in turn look inwards
My faith builds me up constantly
Come hail, storm gale or rain
I stand always on dry footings
For my spirit rooted in the WORD
Preached 2000 plus years ago
I do not evangelize every path I cross
But with quite temperament
My inner light shines
Like the full sun framed in midday
My faith stands the test of time
My reflection casting a wider net
Friends and foes wonder alike
What keeps this special flame
In the depth my heart burning?
Persisting, insisting on knowing
Like the full moon's harvest glow
I share my tempered light with them
There are many other luminous doors
I respect all nature's path leading to them
My book speaks first and foremost
Of everlasting embracing light
For the almighty in all his wisdom
Infused many different lights in his eternal garden
Chose one unique hue to mark each
Spotting the way back to his loving heart
At the end we all equally come home to Him
