My Road Poem by Edwina Reizer

My Road

I will not take the road I see
For I don’t believe it’s the road for me.

I can see its beginning, not its end.
I can’t even see beyond the bend.

I’m not that brave to venture forth
To take its direction south or north.

It must be the fear that holds me back.
The courage I need is what I lack.

I need a road that keeps me straight,
Not a road that plays with fate.

And so I watch which road I’ll take
And pray the decision that I make

Will allow me smooth and comforting sights
And fill my days and all my nights.

I know the decision is up to me
To make the choice though I can’t foresee

Where it is my road will go?
The only thing I really know

Is whomever I meet that’s traveling my way
Will become a part of my earthly play.
