My Precious Poem by Royston Allen

My Precious

How precious is my computer to me
It gives me fun providing great company
When switched on it helps me to disappear
And into another world reappear

I go surfing the net in Cyberspace
And have such fun in that virtual place
There’s danger and I need to draw the line
With this demanding computer of mine

But if I’m not careful it will consume
All of my time leaving me no more room
but from these dangers I will be kept free
with my wife keeping a close eye on me

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written in response to “Blasted Computer”
and based upon the effect of the ring
upon Frodo in “Lord of the Rings”
and how his faithful companion
Sam protected and helped him
As he remained with him
throughout his journey
