My Place Poem by Don Pengilly

My Place

Moving house just recently
From coast to far inland
Thought I would miss the water
The boats the sea the sand

And for sometime I did
Until I had been there for awhile
Amidst the trees and shady bits
I began to change my style

For at the back of my place
The trees surround the path
For many inland creatures
Stare me in the face

I am getting so excited
As the squirrels beat their retreat
At the sight of me just staring
As they try to get their eat

For you see my neighbour feeds them
Full of peanuts and other stuff
Sometimes several get there
Then things get very rough

With food all gone
They look to see who`s near
Then at the neighbours window
They suddenly appear

So you see that inland my place
Can be so exciting
As all the inland creatures
Can be so inviting
