My Person Poem by Marisa Nelson

We are meant to be
Whether you believe so or not
Because everyone has their person
And that's the only thing they got
I am your person
And you, you are mine
You left me when you shouldn't have
Because happiness for others is your divine
And I know she's happy
But what about you?
Are you sure this is what you want?
Because I know you're lying too
You also need to be happy
And I don't think this is right
For me to be without my person
And sleep alone every night
