My Peace Poem by Kesihanna McKenzie

My Peace

I'd rather be in a room, quiet room and alone, so I can hear my heart talks to me,
I want to hear my soul sing, I want to hear that song that let me know who I am is because of all my insecurities.

I've made a lot of mistakes and have said things that should, to others, not heard,
Sometimes, instead of talking, it is better to listen to God's word.

I prefer to be sitting on the beach at sunset and watch the ocean rush to my feet,
Than to be in a crowded setting and to my self-esteem, accept defeat.

Nature is my passion, my way to see God and will never be replaced,
Nature is rooted within my heart; no one will cause her influence on my life to decline or to be erased.

Joy is what I found in spending time with nature and to listen to the music of the wind blow,
We have accelerated time on life and have neglected the simple things in life; we need to take it slow.

I know that the day will become present that I have to leave nature and be planted in the earth,
But nature will always remain to be what it is to me, it taught me self-worth.
