My mother always cared for me
Loved me, fed me
She would do anything so I wasn’t in harms way
I felt utterly protected in her cozy arms
But then, one day, it all changed
She wasn’t there when I woke up in the morning
Away when I came home from school
I didn’t understand why
I was too young to understand
Until the day of her funeral
My loved aunt dressed me and brought me there
She explained to me what happened
I cried and didn’t move
I miss my mother and I want her back
I want to be back in her cozy arms
I want to feel safe and have nothing to worry about
